In a supporting role at the recent sold-out liveZebra 2010 show was local L.A. rock band and fan favorite After Midnight project.

With by far the most energetic and tight set of the night, AMP owned the crowd and stage at Los Angeles’ Key Club on 12/14/10. Don’t miss the chance to see these guys live, they flat-out rock! With the supporting slot on Godsmack’s 2010 Oracle Tour, metal rockers Five Finger Death Punch proved worthy of being the next big American heavy-metal band.

Having shot 5FDP on the 2010 Rockstar Mayhem Tour this past summer, I was more than pleased to cover their show @ Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater on 11/04/10. Once again, Ivan, Jason, Zoltan, Jeremy, & Matt did not disappoint their legion of die-hard fans. Many thanks goes out to Ivan Moody, Brandon Webster, Arthur Seay and the rest of the 5FDP crew!

Bloody Beetroots W/Tommy Lee

Headlining the first night of Hardfest’s 2 day Halloween shows in Los Angeles was Italian electronica and dance trio The Bloody Beetroots.

With a climactic set that included Tommy Lee on the drums for an encore, The Bloody Beetroots put on a live show worthy of anyone out there today. The lighting for the outdoor stage was dark and forever changing all night. But with access to shoot the entire set from stage left, I was more than pleased with the results from my Nikon D3 & 24-70 2.8 lens. Enjoy!

BandSlam 2010 @ The Music Box Theater

“Rock band Swirl performing at the first annual BandSlam competition in Los Angeles”

Twelve bands consisting of music from Pop to Heavy Alternative Rock vied for Southern California Underground’s BandSlam 2010 grand prize at Los Angeles’ Music Box Theater.

With very low key-lighting and varied color-wash outs, the stage lighting was pretty harsh and changed constantly. This shoot was a challenge but my Nikon D3 performed pretty much flawlessly.

Rap/rock supergroup Street Sweeper Social Club with Tom Morello on guitar woke up the Van’s Warped Tour crowd sounding like a machine gun blasting through an 80′s boom box!

With only a handful of west coast dates on this summer’s Van’s Warped Tour, I was more than pleased to able to shoot the guitar phenomenon known as Tom Morello. His guitar playing is second to none and his new band, the Street Sweeper Social Club fronted by vocalist Boots Riley blew the doors off each time they took to the main stage!

Sometimes the opposite direction of the stage can bring you some fresh and interesting shots that you might not normally think about.

You never know when a singer may just jump into the audience or when fans give you something cool to shoot. The shot above is from the stage, I turned to capture the last few chords of this song and the emotion of the singers, fans, and hard-working security staff is all captured in one shot.

Some of my favorite shots of this summer’s concerts are the black and whites that follow.

Although I shot most of the tour in color (which I normally do unless shooting in a dark club with can lights), black and white images can really give a unique photo-journalistic or gallery type feel. Enjoy!

Headlining this summer’s Van’s Warped Tour were Oklahoma natives and fan favorite The All-American Rejects.

With one of the tour’s best live sets, and having one of pop/rock music’s best frontman in Tyson Ritter, the four-piece rock band from Stillwater, Oklahoma The All-American Rejects proved to be a major player in today’s music. When it came to photo opps, AAR did not disappoint. Each and every sundown set was bested by more energy than the last and they left the crowd wanting more every time.

Orange County, Ca Atreyu’s high-energy set, along with dual vocalists, awesome harmonies, and a killer cover of Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Bad Name” rocked the Mayhem Fest Silver Star stage all summer long.
